The Conveyor-Bridge
(Watch a Video at the end of the article)

In 1971 work started on constructing the 366 metre long bridge, that would carry around 1,000 body shells every day over the A38 Bristol Road to the South Works where the bodies would be painted, trimmed and finally assembled. It took nearly 12 months to complete at a cost of £6 million.

On the 4th August 2006 a 1,000 ton crane was assembled on the North Works, which would remove the sections, and so this iconic landmark that has dominated the Longbridge skyline for 35 years would just be a memory.
